The Tragic Loss of Hazrat Shah Shibli Aijaz

Destiny had written a painful tragedy for the Quddusi family. One day, at the tender age of 24, Hazrat Shah Shibli secretly went with a friend to bathe in the canal of Kaliyar Sharif. Hours passed, but he did not return.

“His worried friend finally came back trembling and crying, informing Hazrat Shah Masroor Aijaz that ‘Shibli Miya has drowned in the canal.'”

The shocking news spread rapidly throughout Kaliyar. The entire village gathered around the canal. His elder brothers – Hazrat Shah Mansoor, Hazrat Shah Masroor, Hazrat Shah Wamiq, and Hazrat Shah Manzar – along with the community, searched endlessly, but the water current was too strong.

Sajjadah Nasheen Hazrat Shah Mansoor ordered the flow of the canal to be stopped to facilitate the search. For two days, the whole of Kaliyar was drowned in grief. Every shop and household remained closed as no one was willing to return to normal life until their beloved Shibli Miya was found.

Finally, Sajjadah Nasheen Mansoor Aijaz presented himself in the holy court of Huzoor Sabir Pak (RA) and wept, saying: “O my Master Sabir, I wish to lay my younger brother to rest at your blessed feet. Grant us Your mercy.”

As if by divine will, a Sikh devotee of Huzoor Sabir Pak (RA), Sardar Gurvinder Singh, brought news that a body had risen at Sonali Bridge near Roorkee. When the family and villagers reached there, their hearts sank – it was none other than the jewel of the Quddusi family, Hazrat Shah Shibli Aijaz.

His lifeless body was given ghusl, and with immense sorrow, he was laid to rest in the holy precincts of Dargah Huzoor Sabir Pak (RA). This heartbreaking incident shook not only the Quddusi family but the entire town of Kaliyar. To this day, his memory lives on in the hearts of all as the most beloved son of the family and of the people of Kaliyar.
